Fernando Alonso is the old master of current Formula 1. He crowned his remarkable career, which began in 2001 at Minardi, with two drivers' world championship titles for Renault in 2005 and 2006. After a difficult year at McLaren in 2007, the Spaniard returned to his successful racing team Renault before launching another attack on the world championship crown at Ferrari. Three runner-up titles later, Alonso returned to McLaren for the 2015 season, where he competed alongside Jenson Button and Stoffel Vandoorne for four years.

2018 was the Spaniard's last Formula 1 season for the time being. During the course of the year, he announced his retirement at the end of the season as he was moving to Toyota in the World Endurance Championship. At the end of his 18th Formula 1 season, Alonso finished tenth overall in the drivers' world championship with 50 points. He finished in the top 10 nine times in 21 Grands Prix.

Before the long-distance adventure, Fernando Alonso reached a milestone in Formula 1 that only six drivers in the premier class have come close to to date. At the seventh race of the season, the Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, he competed in a Formula 1 Grand Prix for the 300th time. After starting 14th in qualifying, the race was not particularly successful either, as he had to park his McLaren MCL33 early on the 42nd lap of the race. Nevertheless, this day, June 10th, 2018, is a very special day for Fernando Alonso.

The crowd favorite is already undisputedly number one in the history books with his number of starts. At the end of the current Formula 1 season in 2024, Alonso will break another previously unattainable sound barrier. At the penultimate Grand Prix of the year, which will take place on December 1st in Qatar at the Losail International Circuit in Doha, he will celebrate his 400th start in a Formula 1 Grand Prix.

And that's not all. Fernando Alonso is under contract with his current employer, the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, until the end of the 2026 season.

The model of Alonso's 300th Formula 1 start was released by the manufacturer Minichamps in 1:18 scale. It has a true-to-original cockpit replica with a driver figure. It was produced exclusively for ck-modelcars and is available in a limited edition of 333 copies in a high-quality collector's folding box.
