Max Verstappen is one of the greatest racing talents of today. At his first start for Red Bull Racing, he emerged victorious. The winner car from Barcelona 2016 is available by Minichamps in 1:18 and in a limited number. RRP €199.95, item-no.: 147160533

"18-year-old wins Formula 1-race" - this and similar headlines appeared in newspapers and news portals after the Spanish Grand Prix in 2016. At just 18 years and 228 days, Max Verstappen entered the history books of Formula 1 as the youngest Grand Prix winner.

It was not the first record that Verstappen set in his young career. After switching from karting, the Dutchman only completed one season in the Formula 3 European Championship before moving up to Formula 1 as a regular driver for Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2015. This made him the youngest driver to ever take part in a Grand Prix and also the first driver under the age of 18.

In his second season, 2016, Verstappen swapped his cockpit with Daniil Kvyat before the fifth race of the season at the Circuit de Catalunya and started for the top team Red Bull Racing. Kvyat, on the other hand, took over his vacant cockpit at Toro Rosso.

In his first qualifying in the RB12, the three-time world champion managed to finish fourth straight away, directly behind his much more experienced teammate Daniel Ricciardo.

The Spanish Grand Prix started with one of the most famous moves of the past decade. Starting the race from positions one and two, the two Mercedes drivers knocked each other into the gravel bed of the Repsol curve, which meant an early retirement for Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

After the resulting safety car phase, Verstappen was in second position behind Ricciardo. This order remained unchanged even after the first pit stops. But while Ricciardo headed for the pits for a third stop, Verstappen saved himself another pit stop and took the lead with this intelligent tire strategy.

In the final sprint, he had to defend the constant attacks of Kimi Räikkönen, who was also on a two-stop strategy. Despite the DRS advantage, the 2007 world champion was unable to overtake the Red Bull rookie. Max Verstappen thus completed the sensation and crossed the finish line ahead of the Ferrari duo Räikkönen and Vettel as the youngest Grand Prix winner of all time.

The special model for this special victory by Max Verstappen is available from the manufacturer Minichamps in scale 1:18 exclusively at ck-modelcars. Based on its starting number 33, the model is limited to 333 copies. The RB12 has a true-to-original cockpit replica with driver figure and is delivered including pit board in a high-quality collector's folding box.
