The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a hill climb for race cars and motorcycles, which leads its participants up to the Pikes Peak, a mountain of the front range of the Rocky Mountains in the US state Colorado. In 1916, the investor Spencer Penrose founded this race with the intention to polish up the image of his region. A bill that has paid off: Still today the fascination of the hill climb is unbroken, which is lead under the abbreviation PPIHC and is also called "Race To The Clouds". It is always a topic at the collectors of modelcars, so many participants and winners of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb find their way into the showcases. So does the Porsche 936/19 in scale 1:43 that has been released by the cooperation between Porsche and Spark with the racing driver Jeff Zwart in a special packaging.

The miniatures, limited to just 300 units and under item number WAXL2000009, replicate the participant of the race 2020, the 98th edition of the hill climb, with starting number 11 and are presented on a plate with carbon design. The vehicle, which was driven by Jeff Zwart, competed in the design with the traditional Pegasus of the main sponsor Mobil 1 as well as in the current works-colors and the typical stripes of the Porsche 917 Salzburg 1970. It thus paid tribute to the present and history of Porsche Motorsport. Part of the history of the PPIHC is also director and Porsche collector Jeff Zwart, who before 2020 had already tackled the mountain 16 times with its 20-kilometer-long route blessed with 156 curves. In twelve different Porsche 911s and thus eight wins. He is now even working as a coach for Porsche Motorsport in the GT4 Clubsport class.

So in 2020 Jeff Zwart returned to the track up the mountain after a five-year break. Behind the wheel of Bob Ingram's 515 kW / 700 hp 935 - built on the basis of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS - he started on August 30th with the support of Mobil 1 and Michelin in the new Time Attack class, in which all participants have to compete in series. The cars sprint against each other and against time. Pikes Peak Hall of Fame member Zwart did not start optimally in his own words, but was satisfied in the end: “At the top I really gave it my all again, and so we managed the fastest overall time in the last section of the day. It was close, but we landed on the podium and in the top five overall. That was really a special day with two Porsches in the top five."
