18.07.2019Two new exclusive models: The Ligier JS11 from 1979

CMR takes us back to the past of Formula 1 with two modelcars, produced out of diecast and in scale 1:18: The miniatures of the Ligier JS11 from the year 1979 make up the racing cars of the drivers Jacques Laffite and Patrick Depailler, to which CMR also adds the matching decals of the Gitanes advertising. It was the 30th season of the Automobile World Championship, which is today referred to as Formula 1 World Championship and at the end Jody Scheckter took the title. The two Frenchmen Laffite and Depailler started with a Ford Cosworth DFV 3.0 V8, which looked quite good against the Ferrari of the champions, because the Ligier finished at the end of the season with the fourth and sixth place front places in the constructors' championship. The background: The designer Gérard Ducarouge knew how to use the effect of the ground effect efficiently.

The underbody was shaped so that the contact pressure increased and the grip increased; laterally sealed by appropriate aprons. Ligier was one of the best teams: Laffite won in Argentina and Brazil; his teammate the Grand Prix of Spain. The modelcars of Jacques Laffite, who finished fourth with 36 points, are available under the item number CMR43F1007, those of Depailler with 20 meters under CMR43F1007 exclusively at CK and modelissimo. We remember: there were Formula 1 years, in which not only one and the same top team won, but also others could cut a nice piece of the cake. The two models tell this story in a successful way, which was updated the following year: In 1980, Ligier landed with the revised JS11, the JS15, even in second place in the constructors' championship.
