All good things come in threes: Ferrari wins at Le Mans

All good things come in threes: Ferrari wins at Le Mans

back to blog overview

With their third consecutive victory, Ferrari made history in many ways with the 499P at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2025. A model in scale 1:18 of this remarkable winning car is now available from manufacturer Bburago. RRP €119.99, item-no.: 18-16308 #83

After two victories by the two factory-backed Ferraris of AF Corse, it was the privately entered Ferrari 499P of Yifei Ye, Phil Hanson, and Robert Kubica that won the 93rd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2025. This made it the first non-factory car in the modern era of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), which began in 2012, to secure overall victory at the legendary race on the Circuit de la Sarthe.

Starting from 13th on the grid, the trio quickly worked their way into the leading group and battled with the other two Ferraris and Porsche for the lead. After a race distance of 5,273 kilometers, the yellow Ferrari crossed the finish line on Sunday afternoon as the Le Mans winner, securing Ferrari's fourth victory in four WEC races this season.

Starting from 13th on the grid, the trio quickly worked their way into the leading group and battled for the lead with the other two Ferraris and Porsche. This success marked not only Ferrari's twelfth overall victory, but also their third consecutive Le Mans triumph. This streak grants Ferrari the privilege of keeping the winner's trophy and not having to relinquish it to the next winning team.

For all three drivers behind the wheel of the No. 83, it was their first overall Le Mans victory. Yifei Ye, after winning titles in the European Le Mans Series and the Asian Le Mans Series in 2021, started two years later as the youngest driver in the Hypercar class, driving a Porsche 963 for Hertz Team Jota. For the 2024 season, he moved to AF Corse and, in his debut season, won the Lone Star Le Mans in Austin alongside Robert Shwartzman and Robert Kubica. In 2025, he crowned his successful Hypercar career with an overall victory at Le Mans, becoming the first Chinese driver to win the race.

Robert Kubica also achieved this honor. No Pole had ever won the 24 Hours of Le Mans before. The former Formula 1 driver, who won the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal in 2008, was considered one of the best drivers. However, a serious rally accident in 2011, the consequences of which he still struggles with today, ultimately shattered all his dreams of a great Formula 1 career. In 2023, he celebrated his first major success in endurance prototype racing by winning the LMP2 World Championship title. Since the 2024 season, he has been part of the AF Corse lineup and is only the third driver, after Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso, to have won both a Formula 1 Grand Prix and a World Endurance Championship race.

The third driver to achieve this feat was Briton Phil Hanson. After numerous victories and titles in LMP2 cars in the European Le Mans Series, the Asian Le Mans Series, and the WEC – including a Le Mans class win and the World Championship title in the 2020 season – he moved up to the Hypercar class in 2024. He competed in the WEC with the Hertz Team Jota and in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup for JDC-Miller MotorSports in a Porsche 963. He joined the AF Corse team as a replacement for Robert Shwartzman for the 2025 season and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in his very first appearance. Following his outstanding performance, he was offered a multi-year contract as a Ferrari factory driver in January 2026.

The 1:18 scale model of Ferrari's remarkable 2025 Le Mans-winning car has been released by Bburago. Produced to their usual high standards, the model is a faithful replica of the original. It also features a true-to-life cockpit replica, steerable front wheels, and opening doors.
