Christoph Krombach looks back on a successful racing season

Christoph Krombach looks back on a successful racing season

back to blog overview

A successful racing season ends for Christoph Krombach, even if it wasn't enough to win the overall championship in the Porsche Endurance Challenge.

Christoph Krombach looks back on a successful season 2023. The racing year of the founder of ck modelcars began in January at the 24h Dubai with a class win in the TCX class. After a guest start at the GTC Race in Hockenheim - which was crowned with a class victory in the Trophy classification - he competed in the Porsche Sports Cup Germany.

He competed in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR of the KÜS Team Bernhard together with ADAC Sports sponsor driver Daniel Gregor. In the first four races of the Porsche Endurance Challenge season, the duo achieved four class victories, so that the two drivers were able to celebrate the title in their class in Oschersleben in August. A great success for Krombach and Gregor.

After winning the title early in the Magdeburger Börde, the duo set themselves the goal of also winning the overall championship. The two drivers of the experienced DTM team drove to the finale in Hockenheim with a comfortable lead, but after a collision on the formation lap, Christoph Krombach retired before the start of the race.

“The incident has a flavor,” said the entrepreneur. “I had the pole position in our class and was overtaken by a competitor on the formation lap, who suddenly started warming up the tires next to me, as the on-board camera clearly shows, and the collision occurred in which the vehicle was so badly damaged that we couldn't start the race with it. It's a shame that we lost the overall title as a result, but we can still look back with satisfaction on a successful season, which began with the class win at the 24 Hours of Dubai and was then crowned with the class title in the Porsche Endurance Challenge.”

Christoph Krombach and Daniel Gregor ultimately finished the season in second position in the Porsche Endurance Challenge after four class wins. In the final ranking, the Bernhard team drivers are the best-placed drivers of a Porsche Cayman GT4 CS MR.

The 40-year-old Krombach also competed in the Porsche Sprint GT races in the Cayman of the KÜS Team Bernhard. After some strong results, he finished the season in fifth place in class 1b.
