GT3 at Le Mans: Manthey undefeated

GT3 at Le Mans: Manthey undefeated

back to blog overview

Manthey Racing will arrive at the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans as the undefeated champion. In the still-young era of the GT3 class, introduced in 2024, the team remains undefeated. Model manufacturer Ixo has released the second winning car from 2025 in scale 1:18. RRP €99.95, item-no.: MG-I-911-LM-25-1892

As a replacement for the discontinued GTE-category, GT3 cars made their debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the associated World Endurance Championship in 2024. Nine manufacturers were involved at short notice. The diversity of brands and the associated competition, familiar from numerous global GT3 series, thus immediately transferred to the French endurance classic. Unlike the former GTE Pro-class, there are no purely factory-backed entries in the GT3ccategory. The driver trios consist of a full-time professional, a Silver-rated driver, and a Bronze-rated driver. The cars are run by teams with close ties to the factory teams.

In Porsche's case, Manthey Racing is responsible for the program with the two 911 GT3 R cars. The team, originally founded by Olaf Manthey and now managed by the Raeder brothers, had already successfully handled Porsche's factory GTE program. This era resulted in, among other achievements, three Le Mans victories and a World Championship title.

Manthey Racing continued this success story in spectacular fashion at the start of the GT3 era. With two different driver lineups, the team from the immediate vicinity of the Nürburgring won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in a row in 2024 and 2025, remaining undefeated at the Circuit de la Sarthe in the GT3 era.

The second victory in 2025 was not only another milestone for the team, however. As in the previous year, Richard Lietz was part of the driver trio. This marked not only the Austrian's second consecutive class win, but also his sixth overall. Following the previous year's success with Morris Schuring and Yasser Shahin, Riccardo Pera and Ryan Hardwick joined Lietz this time. Bronze-winning driver Hardwick, as an ambassador for the US company 1st Phorm, brought the team's nickname and the basis for the light blue livery of the 911.

The second victory in 2025 was not only another milestone for the team, but also the first in a row. The trio started the race from 13th on the grid, but quickly fought their way into the leading group and pulled away in the final stages, securing the victory by a decisive 33 seconds.

Ixo has faithfully reproduced the successful Manthey Porsche. The car is available in scale 1:18, making it the perfect way to prepare for the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, where Manthey Racing aims to complete their GT3 hat trick.
