For Manthey Racing, the 2023 racing season began in February, when the 12-hour race took place in Bathurst, Australia. The traditional team, which has its headquarters directly at the Nürburgring, took second place with a Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Matt Campbell, Mathieu Jaminet and Thomas Preining, just 0.9 seconds behind the victorious Mercedes from SunEnergy1 Racing. Even though the winning streak could not be continued in May at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, Thomas Preining crowned the 2023 season with the season victory in the DTM at the Hockenheimring in October. The label Ixo enables us to travel through this extraordinary season with the corresponding models in the scales 1:18 and 1:43. All models are officially licensed products by Manthey and produced in the high quality we are used to from Ixo.
When the checkered flag fell in Bathurst at the beginning of the year, Matt Campbell was in second place, just 0.9 seconds behind the Mercedes of SunEnergy1 Racing. Campbell had started an impressive comeback towards the end of the race. The Porsche 911 GT3 R with starting number 912 was used together with the Australian racing team EMA under the name Manthey EMA.
Manthey and his "Grello" Porsche have long been cult at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. The name is made up of the English terms for the colors of the paintwork "green" and "yellow". The team of founder Olaf Manthey, which last won in 2021, unfortunately had to retire the vehicle it was using early in 2023 as well as 2022. The starting number 911, in which Michael Christensen, Frédéric Makowiecki, Thomas Preining and Kévin Estre were used, was withdrawn from the competition on Sunday night because problems with the tires arose that could not be resolved.
In the 2023 DTM season, Manthey started with two Porsche 911 GT3 R. The Porsche in the Grello livery with the starting number 91 was driven by Thomas Preining. The cockpit of the sister vehicle with the starting number 90 was taken by Norwegian Dennis Olsen. The latter ultimately finished seventh in the overall standings with the "Greeno", which owes its name to the higher proportion of green in the paintwork. His teammate Thomas Preining secured the first overall DTM victory for Manthey, for Porsche and for the first overall victory by an Austrian in the DTM.
