The BMW M1 Procar championship was one of the highlights in the supporting program of the Formula 1-races in 1979 and 1980.

In the Procar series, private individuals and touring car drivers were able to compete in identical vehicles with the five fastest Formula 1 drivers from the training runs.

The series created specifically for the BMW M1 Procar not only ensured great awareness and popularity of the M1, but is also an indispensable part of the success story of BMW M. To this day, the technically and aesthetically impressive super sports cars are unparalleled.

The street-legal car was further optimized for racing use and featured an impressive rear wing as well as widened fenders and a lower front apron. The turbocharged in-line six-cylinder petrol engine installed in the rear produced up to 1,000 hp and allowed the M1 Procars to reach top speeds of over 300 kilometers per hour.

In addition to almost unbeatable names like Niki Lauda, Hans-Joachim Stuck and Nelson Piquet, the Swiss touring car and Formula 1 driver Walter Brun also took the wheel in one of the M1s. The third series race in Monte Carlo in May 1980 in particular left nothing to be desired for motorsport fans. Exciting racing action, rain, failures, numerous spins and fierce competition made the race one of the highlights of the season.

Walter Brun, who has an interesting professional career, competed for Team Schnitzer and managed to stay out of most of the collisions on the narrow road course. The Swiss began his professional career at the post office and then became self-employed with slot machines and discos. He later sold sports cars and champagne and thus founded Brun Motorsport AG. In the end it was tenth place in Monaco for Brun, sponsored by Abel Lepitre Champagne, in the M1 with start number 61.

The bolide in scale 1:18 from WERK83 in white, dark red and orange brings a piece of BMW M history to the collector's shelf and is reminiscent of the golden times of motorsport, but also that of Walter Brun, who was not only involved in motorsport in the 80s, but also also celebrated his greatest successes in business.
