It was the film "Bad Boys" with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence that made the Porsche 964 Turbo known to a wide audience in 1995 and helped the"Bad Boy" from Zuffenhausen to achieve cult status. The 964 Turbo from the film is the version with a 3.6 liter engine and 360 hp. At the time, the car belonged to the director of the film Michael Bay, who made it available for filming. The modelcar label Solido is now presenting the film car in scale 1:18. Fans of the film and the 964 Turbo can now bring the model home with the high quality that Solido has come to expect. The doors of the diecast model can be opened. With the enclosed decals you can even equip the model with the original license plate from the film Bad Boys and thus secure a piece of Porsche history and film history.
The Porsche 964 is the successor to the Porsche 911 "G-Model". The Porsche 964 Turbo differs from the conventional 964 models in that it has widened wheel arches. The wide rear wing and the two oval tailpipes are further features of the 964 Turbo. While a 3.3 liter engine with 320 hp drove the 964 Turbo in the first two model years, the 3.6 liter engine with 360 hp was installed from 1993, as was the case with the Bad Boys film car. The reinforcement of the engine was emphasized by Porsche with red brake calipers as a characteristic feature.
The model 964 was created at a time when Porsche was in crisis. The Porsche 911 was over 15 years old at the time and was basically based on technology from the 1960s. The sales of the 944 had slowly declined. What needed was a completely new model. So in 1989 Porsche launched the 964 model. The chassis was completely redesigned, power steering and ABS were introduced as standard in the 964, and so the expectations of a sports car at the end of the 80s could be met. From today's perspective, the advertising slogan that the advertising agency “Jung von Matt” came up with for the 964 is also funny: “You can have breakfast longer. You'll be back for dinner earlier. Is there a better family car?”.
