On September 19th and 20th, Porsche started into the 88th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans with special vehicle designs: Both 911 RSR of the Porsche GT team competed in the highly competitive GTE-Pro category and rolled in red-white and black-white to the start - a tribute to the first of the so far 19 overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so 50 years ago. The two approximately 378 kW / 515 hp works cars have the 1970 logo on the front hood and roof. That year, where the British Richard Attwood and the German Hans Herrmann at the wheel of the legendary Porsche 917 fought for overall victory at Le Mans for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. The vehicle with the name of Porsche KG Salzburg adorned the national colors of Austria. Exactly these were also used in the 911 RSR with the starting number 91.

And therfore this red and white can be also found at the modelcars to this vehicle: Richard Lietz, Gianmaria Bruni and Frédéric Makowiecki achieved position 31 in the overall rating with the role model. These miniatures in a scale of 1:43 are available under item number WAP0209010MLEM as advertising models from Porsche as well as in the corresponding packaging. They are produced from the high quality polyurethan cast resin and limited to an exact number of 2020 pieces. This also applies to the sister car with the starting number 92, in which red has been replaced by black in both the original and the model. Michael Christensen, Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor finished 35th overall. A lot of bad luck was responsible for this, as the power steering left the team in the lurch after just five hours.

Further repairs caused the backlog to grow: In the end, No. 92 came on the sixth position in the class: The modelcars are available under item number WAP0209020MLEM. One position ahead, the sister car with starting number 91 finished the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was able to keep up with the leaders until early Sunday morning, but then an electrical fault put an end to all dreams of a place on the podium. The next edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is planned for June 12th and 13th, 2021: Back on the traditional date in summer, while last year's race had to be postponed to autumn due to the corona pandemic. Porsche has already confirmed the participation of the two vehicles in the Le Mans event.
