Mercedes-Benz and Norev with the X-class in 1:18

back to blog overview

Already known as the coveted trade fair novelty, the model car for the 470 series is now available in production versions. We say why it's worth the wait.

The lemon yellow-colored advertising model for the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class was a hit at the IAA 2017. Sold out quickly, there were many long faces, but the car maker had already taken precautions and announced two more miniatures, each in 2,500 copies, should come in black and white paint. Norev and Mercedes-Benz have kept their word and delivered a die-cast zinc model, which is available under the article numbers B66006628 and B66006629 in Bering White and cabarash black and offers a lot of beautiful features. Which is also how the models differ, because the cooperation partners have brought different equipment lines in the scale 1:18. Currently the models are not in the shop, but we want to tell you why it pays to wait for more editions.

But let's first say something to Mercedes-Benz on the new X-Class, which will be launched this weekend in the German market: "From brand-typical design, comfort and driving dynamics to safety, it will be a real Mercedes As the first premium manufacturer to take account of the changing needs of customers in the global segment of midsize pickups, the robust one-tonner, seating up to five people, is interesting as an urban lifestyle and family vehicle. " As core markets for the new X-Class, Mercedes-Benz names Europe, Argentina, Australia with New Zealand and South Africa. But we are sure the car will look just as good on all the boulevards of the world. With the X-Class over Königsallee and Kurfürstendamm? Why not?

Looking at the models in detail

The four-cylinder of the new X-Class make as a diesel 120 kW / 163 hp and petrol engine 140 kW / 190 hp. From mid-2018, a V6 diesel with 190 kW / 258 hp is available. But we see nothing of the propulsion units in the model because the bonnet remains closed; as well as the two doors in the rear. Driver and passenger doors are designed to be opened and provide a great insight into two differently designed, even better cockpits. The bering black model is our favorite with its wood decor. The appearance of dashboard, seats and door linings fits perfectly; just as the look of the exterior does not make it any better the look of the over five-meter-long pick-up hits. It becomes interesting, however, when the collector compares the two models: the result really makes you want to save a piece of the budget for miniatures for the purchase of the X-Class.

The white model has a cover that can be opened above the cargo bed and - like the other models - has a foldable trunk lid. The cabaret-black Mercedes-Benz in 1:18 format does not have this detail, but a large roll bar behind the cab. Furthermore, the door handles are chrome-plated and there is also a roof rail held in chrome. The color glazing we discover only in this model. The replicas of the alloy wheels are designed differently. Quite clear: these miniatures are among the most interesting novelties of this season and we enjoy a high level of detail and lovingly made differences in the equipment. So, if you could not get hold of one yet: Be sure to stay tuned, it's definitely worth the wait!
