NLS 2026: First race, first podium!

NLS 2026: First race, first podium!

back to blog overview

The ck-modelcars Cayman GT4 CS has started successfully into the 2026 season of the Nürburgring Long distance series with a podium. In addition, ck-modelcars has further expanded its presence at the NLS.

For the 2026 season, ck-modelcars is further expanding its presence in the Nürburgring Long distance Series and will now serve as an official series partner. This year, a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport will once again compete, sporting a completely redesigned livery from the model car manufacturer. Behind the wheel, founder Christoph Krombach will be joined by drivers Oliver Kunz and Lion Düker. The company also announced a new partnership with Falken driver Tim Heinemann.

Already in 2023, ck-modelcars opened its now well-known shop in Adenau and has since become an integral part of the Nürburgring region. The company has also been a fixture in the paddock, catering to fans' needs. The ck-modelcars trailer offered model cars for every taste and attracted a large crowd at NLS2 – not least thanks to the show car positioned in front of the trailer.

The 58th ADAC Barbarossa Prize marked the start of the new ADAC Ravenol Nürburgring Endurance Series season last Saturday, following the cancellation of the first NLS race. At the season opener of the prestigious endurance championship, Christoph Krombach and his teammates from W&S Motorsport shared the track not only with a total of 17 cars in the Cup 3 class, but also with none other than four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen. The Porsche drivers, including Krombach, competed in the Am category of the highly competitive class.

Even in qualifying on early Saturday morning, the trio made their mark, securing third place in the Am category of the Cup 3 class with their Cayman GT4. In a hard-fought race, where optimal traffic management was crucial, the Porsche drivers ultimately finished in a strong third place. Düker experienced a real scare in the Wippermann section of the track: Krombach's teammate fell victim to a fluid spill and barely managed to keep the car from crashing into the barriers.

"We were thrilled with third place in the Am class, our first podium finish of the season. It was my first time competing in the NLS, and it was a fantastic feeling, especially in front of such a crowd of 25,000 spectators," said Christoph Krombach. "We know we haven't yet reached our full potential and are confident that we'll be fighting for the class win in the future! Nevertheless, we achieved the best possible result for our circumstances and were able to collect important championship points."

The third round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, the 57th Adenauer ADAC Circuit Trophy, is scheduled for April 11th.
