Elvis Aaron Presley was born in 1935 into poor circumstances in Tupelo, Mississippi. When he died just 42 years later, he was one of the most successful artists of his time and a well-known cult figure to this day. The “King of Rock 'n' Roll” has sold more than a billion records, making him the most successful solo artist in the world. In addition to music, he had a strong passion for cars. Especially for Cadillac vehicles, which were like a drug for him. If he liked a car, he simply bought it that same day. By the time of his death, Elvis had been nominated 14 times for a Grammy, which he won three times. Besides Michael Jackson, he is the only artist who has managed to be represented in five different Halls of Fame. He has a total of 167 gold and platinum awards as well as one diamond award. In addition to his successful career as a musician, Presley appeared in 31 feature films and gave more than 1,100 live concerts. His life story was so moving and diverse that it provided material for more than 1,000 books. The then US President Jimmy Carter described Presley as unique and irreplaceable and endowed with an impact that never existed before and will never exist again. After Presley's death, Carter said, "Elvis Presley's death takes a piece of itself from our country."
