The French really hit the bull's eye with the two modelcars to the model series 964 in scale 1:18 and at a very fair price

Last Thursday, the editorial team of this blog chose the topic Solido or its novelties for the 2nd. half of the year 2020, because a new catalog was published for this. Two days later, the first modelcars from the announcement came to the trade with the two Porsche 911 from the model series 964: One Porsche 964 RS 3.8 in speed yellow from the year 1993 with the item number S1803401 and at the same time the nine-eleven of the same model series as 3.6 Turbo in indian red under the number S1803402. Both colors are proper traditional colors from the manufacturer from Stuttgart and they also look great on these two modelcars! Both miniatures built from diecast have a true to the original interior, steerable front wheels as well as all around openable doors and they really match the line management and appearance of the role models.

In 1989, the Porsche 964 entered the stage and is the successor of the bellows-Porsche 911, the so-called G-Model. For the first time, special equipment in terms of anti-blocking system ABS, all-wheel-drive and power steering were offered, but the classic appearance remained unchanged except for the plastic-coated bumpers. The role model of our speed yellow modelcar, the 911 RS 3.8 was developed in the racing department in Weissach-Flacht in a number of pieces of just 90 units and received a 221 kW / 300 hp strong six-cylinder boxer engine with about 3.8 liter displacement. The mold engineers from Solido took over the body in turbo-look as well as the three-piece Speedline-wheels with 9Jx18 at the front and 11Jx18 at the rear in a perfect way: A real flatterer for the showcases!

The Porsche 911 Turbo from the series 964 celebrated its debut before the RS 3.8, already in 1991. He continued the introduced features of the very first Turbo 930 in the body design and was powered by the same engine, the performance of which, however, has been increased to 235 kW / 320 hp thanks to an improved engine management system and a 30 percent larger charge air cooler. The top speed was reached with 270 kilometers per hour; at the weaker, but lighter RS 3.8 with 271 kph. The 964 Turbo accelerated to 100 in 5.0 seconds; the RS 3.8 needed 5.2 seconds. Let's take a look at the price list: When the Porsche 964 RS 3.8 was introduced, it cost 225,000 DM; the Turbo 190,250 DM. Who wants to buy such a Turbo nowadays has actually to pay the same value in euros. It couldn't be more stable!
