CMR has built another miniature of the legendary twelve-cylinder racing car Porsche 917, which was used by the Team Martini & Rossi Racing on March 20th, 1971 at the 12 Hours of Sebring in the scale 1:18 and is exclusively available at modelissimo and ck-modelcars.de. With this vehicle started the legendary winning streak of the car manufacturer from Stuttgart within the sports car world championship; with the 917 Porsche won for the first time the overall victory of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970. The car was used in two versions, either with short or long tail. The long tail should ideally improve the top speed on the long straights of the racetracks: Both versions are well known for the Porsche fnas. The 4.5 liter displacement engines of the 917 initially produced 383 kW / 520 hp.

Let's take a look at the version mentioned at the beginning, which CMR presents with the item number CMR132: The Team Martini & Rossi Racing started in Sebring with the short-tail version and trusted the drivers Gérard Larrousse from France and Vic Elford from Great Britain. The look of the high-quality diecast modelcars in scale 1:18 fits perfectly with the appearance of the prototype, which at the then 8.369 kilometers long Sebring International Raceway in dry and warm weather conditions after 260 laps and 2,175,833 kilometers driven crossed the finish line in front of the two Alfa Romeo T33 / 3 as winners of the third race of the year at the sports car championship; an average speed of 181,053 kilometers per hour fast. 69 participants were registered for the race; Of 57 cars started, 24 were ultimately scored.

But that's not all that fans of the Porsche 917 might like: CMR has introduced 21 more versions of the short-tail version! These are all produced in 1:18 and mostly in the popular painting of sponsor Gulf, which has brought the team John Wyer Automotive Engineering to Stuttgart. With the armada of modelcars for the 917, CMR has actually depicted every racetrack on which the pattern has begun. There are, for example, the 1000 kilometers of Monza in 1970, the 1000 kilometers of Brands Hatch of the same year and of 1971; the 24 Hours of Spa 1970 as well as the Porsche 917, with which Gijs van Lennep achieved the ninth place in Watkins Glen at Can-Am 1971. Not to be missed also the emergency vehicles from Le Mans. All in all, a great collection theme with models at reasonable prices in first-class quality.
