This article shows Jacky Ickx's car after the accident

On the starting lap, Jackie Oliver collided with Jacky Ickx after losing control of his car due to a broken suspension. Both cars immediately burst into flames. Oliver was able to save himself with a jump and remained uninjured. Ickx initially had problems opening his seat belts and suffered minor burns as a result of the delay. Despite the relatively lengthy extinguishing work by marshals and the fire department, the race continued virtually unaffected. After Oliver had walked back to his pit box and informed his team of the reason for the accident, Rodríguez, who was driving an identical car in sixth position, was asked to make a pit stop so that his suspension parts could be checked. It was then decided to take him out of the race as a precaution.
