Anyone who follows our little blog knows that we have often praised Minichamps in the last past weeks: Mostly when the Aachener presented cars with opening doors and flaps or racing cars where the Lupfen the hood insight into the high-profile car and Modellbautechnik granted. While we take some of the tension out of this article, when we tell already at this point that the Brabham BT52 1983 1:18 gets the top grade, but alone viewing of the images shows directly what a great model car we're dealing with. Minichamps shows itself, as was the BT52B, to be once more the world champion of model architecture: Especially when the collector takes off the engine cover of the famous Formula 1 racing car from the pen of Gordon Murray.

The Brabham BT52 - with turbocharger for the World Cup

The turbocharger was indeed invented already in 1905, but stopped in 1973 with the BMW 2002 and 1975 with the Porsche 930 Turbo entered the mass production. No question that the Formula 1 was hot to the new technology. Renault brought the turbo 1977 in Formula 1, won in 1979 the first race it, but BMW proved one engine builder who has worked best. The built-in four-cylinder Brabham BT52 was constructed by Paul Rosche and performed in qualifying to fabled 1,030 kW / 1,400 hp. These Rosche: "Just one does not know that the measurement scale of the dynamometer heard at 1,280 hp." The engine with the designation M12 / 13 was the highest level of development since 1961, built in the Series BMW driving source.

Only 3 victory were need for Piquet's 1983 Title

The power set offered 16 valves for ventilation and brought the first digital engine in Formula 1. The first versions of the formula 1 and Brabham contributed 488 kW / 650 hp; Rosche managed over time so to tickle the 2-times the performance of the basic model out of the same displacement. After 3 wins and 59 points in 1983, the Bavarian carmaker took in collaboration with Bernie Ecclestone's Brabham team Racing Organisation and the driver Nelson Piquet the first world title for the turbo technology. As mentioned above have Minichamps, Paul G. and Romy Lang this deserves for the finish of the small model engine, whose model brings 165 kg on the scales. The details blown away from the chair ... well, more on office chair.

Why? Take a look at the crossflow cylinder head with the finely modeled spark plug cables; admire the structure of the valve cover and the chrome creeping thing of the pipes behind the exhaust manifold. not Discover the turbocharger and forget also to marvel at the detached after removing the cover of the engine radiator, the structure of the Aachen Model Autoprofi has modeled perfectly in appearance. The chassis, the rear axle, the structure of the transmission housing - all these details has Minichamps reacted once a world champion in the model. Our previously expressed view, the engine is the highlight of this miniature. That even suspension, transmission replica, steering and cockpit fit, understood.

BT52 belongs now to the BMW Group Classic

The vehicle impresses today with its arrow-shaped design in the style of the 1980s and the immense power of his engine. One of these racing cars owned by the BMW Group Classic and has since been restored. In 2013 - exactly 30 years after Nelson Piquet's triumph - the racer from the automotive retirement was brought back to the slopes. At the extensive restoration worked with mechanics who were involved before more than 3 decades in its development - among them Paul Rosche. The result was to experience at the Goodwood Festival of Speed ??in July 2013 for the first time; Video Plus we've embedded above. When attending the Legends Parade in Austria on 21 June 2015, also sat again the world champion at the wheel of a Brabham BMW BT52, Nelson Piquet. And our trip on the model? A 1+, what else please?
