The Opel Omega 3000 24V Evo 500 was powered by a 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine. It produced over 480 horsepower and 485 Newton meters of torque. However, due to its heavy weight and several technical challenges, the car was by no means capable of winning in the German Touring Car Championship of the early 1990s.
The Omega, with starting number 99, was driven by factory driver Manuel Reuter in the 1991 DTM season. However, he only contested two races, the eighth race at the Nürburgring. His car was fielded by Opel Team Schübel and bore the distinctive orange livery of its main sponsor, Jägermeister.
The sister car, with starting number 66, was equally striking, with Peter Oberndorfer in the cockpit. He finished 21st in the championship standings and achieved his best result of the season with sixth place at the Alemannenring, a temporary street circuit in Singen at the time.
To this day, the Opel Omega 3000 24V Evo 500 can be admired live on the racetrack. Drivers like Martin Kowalzyk and Patrick Stein drive the DTM icon at events such as the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.
WERK83 offers a model in scale 1:18 of Manuel Reuter's striking DTM Omega from the 1991 season with opening doors. The characteristic Jägermeister paintwork, the vehicle details, and the replica cockpit reflect the original as accurately as possible and in the highest quality.
