The Porsche 956B is considered as one of the most legendary racing cars in Porsche's racing history. It was developed in 1982 for long-distance races, especially the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Its aerodynamic efficiency, the aluminum monocoque chassis and the powerful turbo V6 engine are particularly noteworthy.
The 956B set new standards in the combination of speed, stability and reliability and dominated the then hotly contested Group C class. In addition, the car set a record for eternity in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1983: the first eight places in the overall ranking at the end of the 24-hour race were occupied only by Porsche 956s.
The Porsche 956B in the iconic Jägermeister colors is particularly memorable. In 1984, the vehicle with starting number #20 won two races at the Norisring with the two Germans Hans-Joachim Stuck and Stefan Bellof, in addition to the title in the German Racing Championship.
However, the victory in the 1000-kilometer race in Imola is much more significant. At that time, the eighth round of the Sports Car World Championship also counted as the fifth round of the German Racing Championship (DRM). With a total of 15 starters, the Group C class, in which the Porsche duo started, was hotly contested. However, from second place on the grid, Bellof and Stuck drove a flawless race and crossed the finish line as happy winners at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
