The Porsche GT Team on the rise at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022

The Porsche GT Team on the rise at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022

back to blog overview

The Porsche 911 RSR #91 was piloted to victory by Bruni, Lietz and Makowiecki at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022. The model from Ixo is available in the scales 1:43 and 1:18. RRP €79.95, item-no.: LEGT18-23027, RRP €39.95, item-no.: LEGT43-23010

The legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2022 was the last time in twelve years that purely professional driver pairings could compete in the GTE-Pro class. Due to insufficient participation numbers, all GT-vehicles came together in the LMGTE-Am class in 2023. In 2024, this category also became history, after which only GT3 cars will compete in the LMGT3 class at Le Mans.

The Porsche GT-team around the Porsche 911 RSR-19 with starting number 91 showed a consistent performance at the historic last start, which ultimately brought victory in the hotly contested LMGTE-Pro class. The high-quality and detailed model reflects the winning car in plain white with the characteristic red stripe as best as possible.

The car driven by Gianmaria Bruni, Richard Lietz and Frédéric Makowiecki demonstrated exceptional stability. The two Corvette vehicles dropped out of the lead after suffering drastic damage following a puncture and a serious accident, clearing the way for the Porsche GT-team. With a bit of luck, the experienced trio managed to prevail against the competition and relegated the two Ferraris from AF Corse to second and third place in the GTE-Pro class. Gianmaria Bruni and Richard Lietz celebrated their fourth class victory in 2022, while Frédéric Makowiecki was able to stand at the top of the podium for the first time at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Porsche GT-team's racing strategy worked perfectly. Consistent lap times, flawless pit stops and an optimally tuned vehicle made it possible to cross the finish line as winners. At the end of the 24-hour race distance, 350 laps had been completed and a narrow lead over the second-placed team.

The sister car with starting number 92, driven by Michael Christensen, Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor, finished fourth in the GTE-Pro classification.
