Since the 2021 season, the former Racing Point team has been competing under the name Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team. For the fourth season, Aston Martin presented the AMR24. As in the previous season, the car will be driven by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll in 2024.
Fernando Alonso is the old master in the current starting field of the Formula 1 World Championship. To put it into context: When he first started in Formula 1 in 2001 for Minardi, his current teammate Lance Stroll was just two years old. After his debut season, Alonso moved to Renault, where he celebrated his two world championships in 2005 and 2006. After a season at McLaren, the now 43-year-old then drove for Renault for two more years before competing for Scuderia Ferrari from 2010 to 2014.
After four more years at McLaren, he took a break from Formula 1 and started in the Indy 500 and for Toyota in the World Endurance Championship, where he celebrated overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018 and 2019 and secured the world championship title. The Spaniard also started in the Dakar Rally in 2019 and finished 13th in the automobile classification.
Fernando Alonso returned to the premier class with Alpine for the 2021 season before moving to Aston Martin in 2023. There he made a brilliant start to the season. The veteran finished third in each of his first three races for the team. In total, he celebrated eight podium places in the 2023 season and thus finished fifth in the drivers' world championship, while his teammate Lance Stroll finished the season in tenth place.
Accordingly, the team around team boss Mike Krack has big plans for the 2024 season. After 18 of 24 races completed, the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team is again in a very strong fifth place in the constructors' championship. Fernando Alonso has finished twelve races in the points so far. His season highlight was fifth place at the Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia. His Canadian teammate finished in the points six times. In Australia, Stroll celebrated his best result of the season with sixth place.
The two models of the Aston Martin AMR24 of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are available in scale 1:43 from the manufacturer Minichamps and are limited to 720 editions.
