Bugatti has always stood for uncompromising super sports cars that are in a league of their own. When the Veyron, released in 2005, was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2000, the era of the W16 engine began. The all-wheel-drive 16-cylinder with 8.0 liter displacement already produced 1001 hp and set all records in the automotive segment at the time. The end of the W16 engine was now marked by the Bugatti W16 Mistral, the car manufacturer's first roadster since the Chiron. The label Bburago means that we can put this milestone of engineering art in our home display cabinets on a scale of 1:18. The Bugatti Mistral is available in black and yellow in our shop. The Bburago models have a true-to-original interior, steerable front wheels and opening doors.
The 99 units of the Mistral, which Bugatti is offering at a base price of 5.95 million euros, have already been sold before they can be delivered. The 16-cylinder engine in the Mistral, equipped with four turbochargers, produces 1600 hp and has a top speed of 420 kph, making the Mistral the fastest roadster in the world. The decision to use a roadster for the final appearance of the W16 engine was an easy one for those responsible at Bugatti, as more than 40 percent of all vehicles ever built by Bugatti were "open". As far as the name goes, it was all about combining freedom, elegance and speed in one word. The Mistral, the name of a strong wind that blows from the Rhône Valley through the cities of the Côte d'Azur to the Mediterranean, was therefore considered more than fitting. Not least because the Bugatti Mistral, with the roof removed and full power, directs 70,000 liters of air per minute through the engine through the air intakes directly behind the occupants.
When Volkswagen acquired the design and naming rights to Bugatti in 1998, a new era began. The company headquarters were relocated back to Molsheim in France and within a few months the first concept car was ready for presentation. The Bugatti-Rimac joint venture, 55 percent owned by the Rimac Group and 45 percent by Porsche, has existed since 2021. The Veyron 16.4 was presented in 2000. Ten years later, the Chiron, named after the Monegasque racing driver Louis Chiron, followed. With the Divo, the Centodieci and the Bolide, exclusive hypercars came onto the market in the following years, which were limited to small numbers. What they all have in common is the W16 engine, which now delivers an incredible 1850 hp in the Bolide and will now be used for the last time in the Mistral.
