The US American model builder Greenlight has delivered very nice miniatures out of zinc diecast in scale 1:18 this week. An outstanding feature are the openable doors and hoods at nearly every model and have a wonderful look into the technology of the 1970s for example. Detailed engines - still our highlight when considering the modelcars - are the rule and not the exception. That applies also to the downsized Dodge Challenger R/T 1970, which is part of the delivery under the item number 13526. A very special model by the way, because at its role model it is about the main actor form the movie "Vanishing Point" from 1971. The roadmovie was directed by Richard C. Sarafian.

Actor Barry Newman had his first cinema main role with "Vanishing Point", but he first became known worldwide as a lawyer in the TV series "Petrocelli", in which he was seen in 45 episodes from 1974 to 1976. Newman, born in Boston on November 7, 1938, played the former racer Kowalski at "Vanishing Point", who had to ferry a car from Denver to San Francisco and bet he would achieve the distance in front of him with about 2,000 kilometers within fifteen hours. A challenge, he hoped to deal with by consuming amphetamine, which required that he did not stick to the speed limits. At the car to be transferred, it is about a white Dodge Challenger R/T.

Movie star hit perfectly

Greenlight has equipped the model with a 7.2 liter V8, transferred the details of the movie star perfectly to the modelcar. The powertrain achieves 279 kW / 375 PS. The Dodge Challenger had been introduced in 1970 and belonged to the type of vehicle 'Pony Cars' of compact sport coupés or cabriolets, which was named after the first Ford Mustand. Greenlight models draw perfect appearence to the car and show it by means of the retracted grille and the taillights over the entire width of the car as a miniature of the year 1970/1971. Engine and wood steering wheel are authentically reproduced; If you want to be more luxurious in the collector's display, you can also decide for the new models of the convertible version.
