In 1984 and 1985, a new star rose in the sky of Grand Prix drivers in Formula 1. Under the Brazilian flag, the then 24-year-old Ayrton Senna initially drove for the Toleman team before moving to the more competitive Lotus team in 1985.

But first things first: Following numerous successes in karting and formula racing, Ayrton Senna moved up to the premier class of motor racing with Toleman in 1984. The first year with the British team was all about the learning process. With the inferior TG184, Senna only had limited opportunities for good results. Nevertheless, the Brazilian quickly impressed with strong performances. In the rain in Monaco, Senna drove from 13th place on the grid to second place and secured his first Formula 1 podium in the principality. Two third places and further points finishes meant an extremely successful debut season. The impressive debut was to help Senna to have an even more promising year in 1985.

After his debut year at Toleman, the exceptional talent moved to the top team at Lotus. There, too, "the magician", as he was christened, immediately proved his class and drove to his first Formula 1 victory in just his second race for Lotus on the Circuito do Estoril. Another triumph was to follow on the Ardennes rollercoaster of Spa-Francorchamps. Senna had long since established himself as a top driver and serious competitor. The Brazilian also regularly demonstrated his speed in qualifying with seven pole positions. Despite his inimitable driving style, Senna's season was marked by some technical difficulties, so that at the end of the 16-race season he was fourth in the World Championship. The start of a historic career had long been made.

Both the Toleman and the Lotus are limited to 333 pieces each. The models are delivered with individual numbers in a high-quality collector's folding box.
