With a maximum haul of 56 points at the final weekend of the DTM in Hockenheim, Thomas Preining secured the championship title for the 2023 season. After the teams' title for Manthey EMA and the win in the manufacturers' classification for Porsche had already been decided after Saturday's race, the 25-year-old Austrian also crowned himself the new drivers' champion ahead of time with pole position on Sunday morning. With victory in the final race, the Porsche works driver then ensured the crowning finale to his second DTM season.
