On May 21, 2000, the European Grand Prix took place on the Nürburgring. The race went over a distance of 67 laps (305 km).
Michael Schumacher, who started from 2nd place, took the lead after 10 laps and defended it until the end of the race. That meant the fourth victory in the sixth race of the season, which he extended the lead in the overall standings and at the end of the season was able to secure his first world title with Ferrari (3rd world title overall).
