Since 2023, Porsche has been back in the fight for overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In the current heyday of long-distance racing, the Zuffenhausen-based company would like to prevail against the highly decorated competition with their 963 and achieve their 20th triumph on the Sarthe.
Even if the hoped-for success was not achieved at the first attempt in 2023, the car already has the characteristics of a classic among racing and model car fans. This is probably due not least to the striking designs with which Porsche and its customer teams send the 963 into the race at Le Mans, in the World Endurance Championship and also on the American continent in the IMSA series. Spark has recreated the 963 in different versions and in scales of 1:18 and 1:43, which are now in the ck-modelcars range in various price segments.
Available in scale 1:18 is one of the three works cars that took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023. For the big highlight of the season, Porsche adapted the red and white design used in the World Endurance Championship. At Le Mans, a colorful tail ran from the front to the rear. The colors took up Porsche's previous Le Mans victories and the designs of the successful cars. The starting number also marked the 75th birthday of the Porsche company.
In the chaotic initial phase, which was characterized by capricious weather, Matthieu Jaminet, Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy were still able to collect kilometers in the lead. But the fuel pressure problems were over by Saturday evening. Until then, however, the number 75 Porsche caused enthusiasm. The high-quality Spark model in scale1:18 comes with a display case and is limited to 963 copies.
Also available 963 times in 1:18 is one of the popular customer cars that Porsche delivered to private teams just a few months after the factory racing debut. This also included the JDC-Miller MotorSports team, which was using its car in the IMSA championship from May 2023. The bright yellow design, christened “Banana Boat”, was already familiar from the team’s previous racing cars, but on the striking body of the Porsche 963 it became a crowd favorite.
Both cars mentioned above are also available in scale 1:43, with the JDC-Miller MotorSports car being limited to 1,500 units. Also available on a smaller scale are the two factory cars used by Roger Penske from the racing debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2023, which are limited to 2,000 models each. In addition, there is the customer car from Jota, limited to 1,500 units, with the extremely popular white and gold color scheme, with which the British team also caused a sensation in the early stages of Le Mans until it was thrown back by an accident - in the Porsche curves of all places . Like the 1:18 cars, the models in scale 1:43 are also delivered in high-quality outer packaging. Whether it's a factory car or a customer vehicle, whether it's monochrome or colorful, whether it's 1:18 or 1:43 - the Spark selection of the Porsche 963 definitely makes you happy to make a decision.
