The results of the seasons 2021 and 2022 are more than impressive and show the fantastic quality of the 550 hp racing car from Affalterbach, Germany.
With the GT3 and GT3 Evo versions, Mercedes has achieved a true stroke of genius in motorsport. The successful car with the 6.8-liter naturally aspirated engine from the SLS AMG GT3 is not only technically impressive, but its exterior is also an absolute feast for the eyes. The sophisticated aerodynamics combine design and functionality in an incomparable way. The AMG features a large front apron with a splitter and a brutal, adjustable rear wing. Cooling air outlets centrally on the hood as well as wheel arch vents at the front and cooling channels in the side skirts for temperature control of the rear axle brake round off the wide appearance of the car.
Two of the impressive AMG GT3s were successfully used by Winward Racing in the DTM and at the 24 Hours of Daytona. The black and white Remus Mercedes was driven to overall victory by Lucas Auer at the second DTM round in 2021 in Assen. In the same year, Russel Ward, Indy Dontje, Philip Ellis and Maro Engel managed to win the GTD class at the 24 Hours of Daytona with the blue and black Techemet-AMG. Successes that perhaps also contributed to DTM champion Maximilian Götz switching to Winward Racing along with his main sponsor BWT.
In addition to Maximilian Götz's DTM title, the Haupt Racing Team also competed for overall victory in the 24 Hours at the Nürburgring. The driver quartet of Adam Christodoulou, Maro Engel, Manuel Metzger and Luca Stolz were able to hold their own at the top for a long time with the traditionally painted Bilstein-AMG before the team unexpectedly retired shortly before the end of the race.
In the 2022 season, HRT then attacked the DTM with two vehicles. The Indian Arjun Maini took the wheel of the blue and white PAUL-AMG and was able to record, among other things, two fourth places in the races at the Lausitzring and the Red Bull Ring. His teammate Luca Stolz in the Bilstein-AMG was able to secure sixth place in the drivers' championship with a victory at the Nürburgring and several second places, including in Portimão and at the Lausitzring.
