Dream couple in the cockpit: Successes from the Rally sport in 1:43

Dream couple in the cockpit: Successes from the Rally sport in 1:43

back to blog overview

The top label CMR set two winners each with a monument from diecast with the Lancia 037 and the Fiat 131 Abarth

The modelcars, produced from diecast by CMR, set a monument for the dream couple in the cockpit of the German and international rally scene: The names of the two-time world champion driver Walter Röhrl and his co-driver Christian Geistdörfer can be read on the body of the Lancia 037 with starting number 1 and the Fiat 131 Abarth with starting number 10. The famous driver duo started with the Lancia in the 1983 Rallye Deutschland (Germany) for the Lancia Würth Team and won it. The scale 1:43 miniatures trace the appearance and look of the sports equipment prototypically and are available under item number WRC011. The Fiat 131, modeled by CMR was used by Fiat Italia in the 1980 Monte Carlo Rally, where it also crossed the finish line. These models are the focus of the editorial team today.

The two modelcars perfectly match the line management of their role models and attach great importance to the exact reproduction of the add-on parts, such as the batteries of the headlights in the front; where the bumper is attached to the Fiat, for example. The interiors of both diecast miniatures have been scaled down to the harness straps. No wonder, as CMR won four categories for the model vehicle of the year 2020 and has been equated with Minichamps in terms of finish and quality since this result became known. What is also enthusiastic is the accuracy of the label, which was founded a little more than five years ago, in the selection of its role models: Gaps are tracked down, some of which the fans didn't even know that they existed. So it is with the Fiat 131 Abarth from the racing and rally slopes.

Let us come back to our dream couple in the cockpit: Wlater Röhrl, born in Regensburg in 1947, was active as rally pro driver between 1973 and 1987. He won the FIA driver world championship 1980 and 1982 as well as the European championship 1974. Parallel to his career in rally sport, Röhrl was also active in circuit racing. The sports man ended his professional career in 1992 with Audi. Since 1993, Walter Röhrl is representatvie and test driver at Porsche. Röhrl also had four victories at the Monte Carlo Rally together with Christian Geistdörfer from Munich, who was born in 1953. Röhrl also sees this as particularly important; the duo won these races with cars from four different brands: 1980 with Fiat (the prototype of our model), 1982 with Opel, 1983 with Lancia and 1984 with Audi. It's hard to imagine that a cockpit crew could do this, right?
