The originating readers of our blog know our statements to the effect that model builder Spark occupies almost ever niche with its progamm of modelcars after their role models from the motorsports: The product planner roll every starter field to the left that nearly no race car, which every drove out of a box to the track, escapes the reduction in scale 1:43. We also notice this method at the makers of the label AutoCult, which has not focused so much on motorsports, but occasionally find role models, which fit in this genre. So currently, for example, with the miniatures of the Kaimann Mk. IV in scale 1:43, with its role model Niki Lauda started in the Formula Vau in 1969. It is the model of a race car, with which the triple world champion started his career.

The legendary Porsche race director Huschke von Hanstein was the driving force behind the Formula V debut in Europe. Its author is American businessman and amateur racer Hubert L. Brundage. Engine, transmission and suspension had to come from the VW Beetle. Its premiere in front of a large audience with us experienced the Formula V on August 1st, 1965 in the supporting program of the Grand Prix of Germany. In the Opel dealer Kurt Bergmann from Wien-Eßling it immediately found a big follower. The kart driver built two first racing cars in 1966, which were powered by the engine of a VW 1200: The Kaimann team was born. Bergmann took over the role of team manager and signed the kart champion Werner Riedl. In 1968, Bergmann began mass production of the Kaimann Mk. III.

The about 180 km / h fast cars for private drivers received in 1969 a slimmer body, which replicate the presented model cars here made out of high quality resine in a limited number of 333 units exactly. With such a Kaimann Mk. 4 also the young talent Niki Lauda went to the start; then 20 years young and supported by the first Austrian Sparkasse he won the races in Sopron and Monza. He also took second places and finished the 1969 season as third in the Austrian championship. We all know what happened to him: about Formula 3 and Formula 2 in Formula 1, where he was three times world champion. As a partner and supervisory board member of the Mercedes Formula One team, Lauda is still a major player in motorsport. In a Lauda collection, the little Kaimann must not be missed.
