Eight RS Spyder vehicles were launched around the world in 2008. Teams and fans were able to look forward to a great season after the opening race in the American Le Mans Series, because the RS Spyder celebrated a historic one-two victory at the Sebring 12 Hours, beating even the more powerful prototypes from the LMP1 class.

This year, three of these Porsche sports cars were able to demonstrate their strength in the European Le Mans Series for the first time and ended the season with great success. Two teams dared to start in front of more than 260,000 spectators at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and promptly celebrated a double victory in the LMP2 class.

In 2008 all driver and team championships as well as the manufacturer titles could be won.
