The fourth generation of the Porsche 911 GT3 R replaced its successful 991-based predecessor for the 2023 season. The racer had big shoes to fill, as the previous model had won almost every prestigious race in the years prior. With the 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R, Porsche raised its GT3 race car to a new level. Improved aerodynamics, a carbon fiber body, and the water-cooled, naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine with an increased displacement of 4,194 cc and a maximum output of 565 hp are just some of the features the engineers used to prepare the Porsche for the next generation of racing machine.
Following numerous successes in its first two years of competition, the 2025 season proved particularly strong for the Porsche 911 GT3 R. For the second time since 2023, Manthey Racing won the DTM drivers' championship – this time with Ayhancan Güven, who thus became the first Turkish DTM champion in history.
Güven immediately established himself as a title contender with his victory in the Sunday race at the season opener in Oschersleben. Further first-place finishes followed in Zandvoort, a double victory at the Sachsenring, and once again at the season finale in Hockenheim. No other driver crossed the finish line first as often. And with only one retirement, Güven's consistency was a key factor in securing the title.
His teammate, Thomas Preining, who became DTM champion in the 2023 season, also shone with two wins and a fourth-place finish in the championship. The third driver, Morris Schuring, also delivered a strong performance in his rookie season, scoring numerous points and securing a podium finish.
The Manthey 1st Phorm team enjoyed similar success in the World Endurance Championship. Having already secured the LMGT3 class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024 under the name Manthey EMA, Richard Lietz, Ryan Hardwick, and Riccardo Pera were victorious again in the 2025 season. The trio had already stood atop the podium in their blue Porsche at the second race of the season in Imola. Thanks to consistent performance in the second half of the season, without any retirements, the team ultimately clinched the World Championship title.
Ixo has released two model kits commemorating the team's successes in the DTM and at Le Mans. Each kit contains several Manthey Porsches, produced to their usual high standard in scale 1:43. Both car sets arrive perfectly arranged and make a stunning addition to any collection.
