For decades, the Porsche 911 has been one of the most successful cars in international GT racing. With the 911 GT3 R (992 series), Porsche launched the fourth generation of its GT3 race car for the 2023 season. At its heart is the water-cooled, 4.2-liter, six-cylinder boxer engine, producing up to 565 hp.
Among the teams that have relied on Porsche race cars for many years is Herberth Motorsport. The team from Jedenhofen boasts a long history in international GT and endurance racing. Victories and titles in the 24H Series, successes in the Asian Le Mans Series, and numerous appearances in the GT World Challenge Europe are as much a part of the team's history as starts in the world's most prestigious endurance races.
The 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps is also familiar territory for Herberth Motorsport. The team has been competing in the traditional endurance classic in the Belgian Ardennes since 2017. In 2025, Herberth Motorsport tackled the GT World Challenge Europe season highlight with two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs.
In the No. 91 Porsche, Herberth's experienced drivers Ralf Bohn, Alfred Renauer, and Robert Renauer shared driving duties with Axcil Jefferies. The quartet competed in the highly competitive Bronze Cup and started the 24-hour race from eleventh position in their class. On the challenging, approximately seven-kilometer-long Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the team delivered a consistent performance and was in contention for a podium finish for much of the race. Alfred Renauer crossed the finish line in sixth place after 24 hours, which translated to 25th place overall.
Even further up the grid, the second Herberth Porsche made its mark even before the race began. The No. 92 car, driven by Tim Heinemann, Rolf Ineichen, and Joel Sturm, competed in the Gold Cup. The trio impressed in qualifying, securing their place in the prestigious Superpole, where the 20 fastest cars battled for the best starting positions. With a lap time of 2:16.127 minutes, Sturm brought the Porsche to ninth place overall. This made the #92 not only the highest-placed car in the Gold Cup, but also the highest-placed Porsche in the entire field. For Heinemann, Ineichen, and Sturm, this meant pole position in their class and an excellent starting position for the race.
The team confirmed their strong pace in the race as well. Despite numerous neutralization periods, the trio remained in contention for a top result for a long time and made it through the night without any major problems. Their hopes for a podium finish were abruptly dashed on Sunday morning: After contact and the resulting damage, the #92 had to retire from the race. This meant they missed out on the hoped-for success in the Gold Cup.
Ixo has now recreated the two Porsches from Spa in scale 1:18. Both the #91 and #92 models are in no way inferior to their real-life counterparts and are produced with the usual high-quality Ixo craftsmanship.
