Ferrari's return to the top league of endurance racing in 2023 marked an important milestone in the history of the Maranello-based car manufacturer. The Ferrari 499P was supposed to be the big hit in the endurance world championship. And this happened impressively. In addition to the first podium places, the vehicle with starting number 51 triumphed at the 100th anniversary of the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Just one year after Ferrari's memorable tenth overall victory in the endurance classic, the Italians struck again at the Sarthe with their hypercar, christened "499P". This time, the drivers of the prototype with starting number 50 had every reason to be happy. Antonio Fuoco, Nicklas Nielsen and Miguel Molina prevailed against strong competition in a race characterized by constant changes in the weather. The sister vehicle with the previous year's winners took third place, giving the traditional manufacturer a sensational double success.
In addition, the AF Corse team fielded a third vehicle outside the factory team in 2024. Robert Kubica, Robert Shwartzman and Yifei Ye took turns behind the wheel of the predominantly yellow Ferrari with the number 83. As a special highlight, the trio celebrated a surprise victory at the "Lone Star Le Mans" on the Circuit of the Americas. In addition, the privateers landed in the top five at the season opener in Qatar.
The Le Mans winners Fuoco, Nielsen and Molina also recorded further strong placings in the World Endurance Championship, including sixth place in Qatar. The trio thus fought for the title in the drivers' world championship, but were narrowly defeated by their rivals from Porsche.
In collaboration with Bburago, ck-modelcars is offering detailed replicas of the three Ferrari 499Ps from the 2024 season in scale 1:18, just in time for Christmas. In classic Ferrari red and yellow and with opening doors and hoods, the models are a real eye-catcher in every display case.
