Even 50 years after his Formula 1 world championship titles, the fascination with Jim Clark remains undiminished. The Scot is still regarded today as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time. The young Clark demonstrated the incredible talent that lay dormant within him right from his first races on the rustic airfield circuits of Scotland. From that moment on, his career took off.

Four years after his first car race, Clark finished on the podium at Le Mans and made his Formula 1 debut for Lotus. Over the following decade, Clark and his mentor Colin Chapman conquered the world together. Clark won the world championship twice with Lotus and claimed victory in the Indy 500 once. In total, Clark celebrated over 100 race wins in a Lotus.

This 400-page work by McKlein is dedicated not only to his extraordinary career but also to Clark’s private life from A to Z. Author Graham Gauld has closely followed the career of this exceptional talent from the very beginning as a friend, photographer and reporter, spending countless hours with Clark. For this book, Gauld has gone through his old audio tapes once again and compiled his best photographs. Furthermore, this lavishly illustrated volume contains rare photographs from various well-known archives, thus offering an intimate portrait of the champion.
