The KÜS Team75 Bernhard in the season finale of the ADAC GT Masters

The KÜS Team75 Bernhard in the season finale of the ADAC GT Masters

back to blog overview

Due to the corona crisis, the chaotic season 2020 ends in Oschersleben and our friends from Landstuhl remain true to themselves: light and shadow

Michael Ammermüller (34) from Rotthalmünster and Christian Engelhart (33) from Starnberg of the Team SSR Performance secured the title for the first time in the finale of the ADAC GT Masters at the Motorsportarena Oschersleben in the Porsche 911 GT3 R. The victory came from pole position for Philip Ellis (28) from England and Raffaele Marciello (25) from Italy from the Knaus team HTP-Winward in the Mercedes-AMG GT3. Second place went to the Audi duo Rolf Ineichen (42) from Switzerland and Mirko Bortolotti (30) from Italy from the Belgian WRT team, ahead of Robert Renauer (35) from Vierkirchen and the French Mathieu Jaminet (26); both also - like our friends of the KÜS Team75 Bernhard - in a 911 GT3 R; Like last weekend, Renauer and Jaminet also drove Klaus Bachler for Precote Herberth Motorsport. But how did it go for Timo Bernhard's team?

Both Porsche 911 GT3 R of the KÜS Team75 Bernhard have fought for championship points in the Saturday race of the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben: The car with starting number 17 under Porsche works-driver Simona De Silvestro (32) from Switzerland and Ex-Porsche-Junior Klaus Bachler (29) from Austria secured place eight. The sister car with starting number 18, driven by David Jahn (29) from Leipzig and Jannes Fittje (21) from Langenhain, finished with position 14. In the morning qualifying, Klaus drove the Porsche with starting number 17 in ninth place; In the sister car with the number 18, Jannes was in 18th position, as always in the "League of Super Sports Cars", no fewer than 19 cars were in the end within a single second interrupted before the end with the red flag.

An improvement was no longer possible due to the heavy traffic that followed. Klaus was able to make up one place in the race and despite an interruption with a red flag held eighth place until the mandatory pit stop. Simona took over and successfully defended her position up to the checkered flag. Jannes dropped one place in the start phase. David fought his way to the checkered flag but still up to 14th place. This placement also meant third place for Jannes in the junior ranking, in which he is second overall. Points and frustration also dominated Sunday: a good eighth place and eight championship points, but also once again a car damaged by an accident through no fault of its own - for the KÜS Team75, satisfaction and frustration were close together in the last ADAC GT Masters race of the season: light and shadow !

A Sunday in Oschersleben

In the chaotic qualifying, which was interrupted by a red flag, David achieved place ten with the Porsche 911 GT3 R and starting number 18, Simona came on 14th position in the sister car with starting number 17. At the start, however, only No. 18 survived a mass collision immediately after the traffic light that changed to green, when the race was released. Simona was sent into the wall: Since the damage could not be repaired quickly, Klaus Bachler's car could no longer start the race at the restart. David was eighth at the start of the pit stops and handed the Porsche over to Jannes. The youngster also drove his stint to a quick and flawless end, finishing in eighth place. That also meant third place in the junior ranking, which Jannes finished in second place overall.

The last word in the row of our articles to the ADAC GT Masters in this season belongs to team boss Timo Bernhard: "The season is over, unfortunately not with the result that we had hoped for. Today, both cars were involved in the crash right at the beginning, luckily David could go on. He and Jannes then did a good job and finished on P8. Jannes finished second in the overall junior ranking, which is a great success. ... That was more than a shame because the pace of the car was good. Unfortunately we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I would like to thank our team very much. It's been a tough season with a lot of work. Everyone pushed tirelessly, everyone gave everything. You could feel this team spirit. Our congratulations go to SSR Performance for winning the title!"
