by Princess Marianne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein
Bilingual book in German and English
This illustrated book gives an exclusive insight into the most exciting era in motorsport history. Marianne Fürstin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn took advantage of the opportunity and let her camera speak for her. In the right place at the right time. With the perfect feel for the moment and the composition.
The result: large-format racing photographs from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, a testimony and contemporary document at the same time. Because the princess knew how to capture the mood and to hold it at the same time - in the middle of the VIP area and also away from the racetracks.
After an exciting conversation with the princess about photography, the viewer can enjoy completely unseen glimpses of the world's great race tracks and the celebrities at the races: from the Nürburgring to Spa, from Monza to the Mille Miglia. The opulent image closes with a very personal look at his mother's work from her son Peter Prinz zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn.
Princess Marianne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn was born in Salzburg in 1919. “Manni”, as she is affectionately known among celebrities, is a great-great-great-granddaughter of the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa. The photographer has photographed international celebrities as a social expert for almost 50 years. This included Hollywood greats such as Steve Martin, Dennis Hopper and Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as the star conductors Leonard Bernstein and James Levine, heads of state, ministers and economic bosses such as Henry Ford or cigar legend Zino Davidoff.
